Skatestopper.ca was founded after watching a single 3-metre granite ledge in downtown Toronto rack up $1,800 in re-polishing costs two summers in a row. The retrofit to prevent it would have cost the same — once. We started supplying skate deterrents to property managers and BIAs in 2019 with a simple thesis: most skate damage is preventable, and the prevention costs less than the repair. By 2021 we had standing vendor agreements with TTC, the City of Toronto Parks Forestry & Recreation, and Vancouver Park Board. Today we ship skate stoppers and anti-grind hardware to municipalities, transit authorities, school boards, and commercial owners in every province and territory.

Our engineering team specifies in 316L marine-grade stainless for coastal sites — Vancouver, Halifax, Victoria, Saint John — and 304 stainless with brushed or bronze patina finishes for inland Canadian metros. Every install ships with stamped engineering, AODA / CSA B651-18 conformance letters, and OBC 3.4.6.5 / CNB 9.8.7.4 references for handrail applications. Our distribution centre in Brantford ON ships replacement parts same-day to anywhere in Canada. We're proudly Canadian — manufactured in Ontario, supported by direct-employee install crews carrying $5M general liability and WSIB coverage, and accountable to one supplier relationship per project.

We design, manufacture, and install skate deterrent hardware in every province and territory of Canada. Our largest deployment volumes run through Toronto, Montréal, Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa, Edmonton, Mississauga, and Halifax — but we ship to Whitehorse, Iqaluit, and remote First Nations communities with the same procurement standards. Stocking warehouses in Toronto and Vancouver give us 5–10 business day standard lead times for the 17 largest Canadian metros.
